Janet Evans is a Senior Research Assistant at the ARC Centre of Excellence in Policing and Security (CEPS). Janet is the Project Manager of the Intelligence Methods Project and a research assistant on the Risky people Project. Janet holds a M.Sc. in Investigative Psychology from the University of Liverpool.

Prior to working with the CEPS team Janet worked for a number of a number of law enforcement agencies in crime and intelligence analysis. Janet began her career as a crime and intelligence analyst in England working for Lancashire Constabulary and later worked as the Principal Intelligence analyst / Analytical coordinator at West Midlands Police where she managed 39 crime and intelligence analysts whose expertise covered strategic, tactical and operational intelligence.

In 2002 Janet moved to Australia working in research for the Queensland Police service and then for the Crime and Misconduct commission in Queensland. Before joining CEPS Janet was the Manager of Intelligence in the Misconduct area.

Janet has developed and taught on intelligence courses since 1999. She has taught crime and intelligence analysts, academic students and police managers in Australia, the United Kingdom and South Africa. Her main areas of interest are strategic and tactical intelligence analysis and crime analysis, particularly looking at the use of criminology and psychology in analysis.
