Professor Denise Meredyth is the Deputy Director of the Institute for Social Research at Swinburne University of Technology, where she leads the Citizenship and Government program. She is an Associate Investigator with CEPS and also a Chief Investigator with the ARC Centre of Excellence in Creative Industries and Innovation. Denise has published widely on education policy, liberal governmentality, civic formation, information poverty, wired communities and participation. She is currently working on a project with Victorian Police on social networks, trust and perceptions of security within Vietnamese community groups and on a longitudinal study with the Salvation Army and SYN-FM on Youthworx, a project to build the media capacity and creativity of at risk young people. Other current work includes an ARC Linkage project, with seven local government partners across Melbourne, on community consultation and engagement with groups who are considered 'hard to reach', a study of the implications of online search facilities for large public libraries and a study of problem gambling and self-regulation.
