Grants

 

The list of grants below, although not exhaustive, may offer some opportunities for funding and collaboration around the world.  Most are open to researchers at all career levels, however, there are some exceptions.

 

The Australian Research Council
The ARC NCGP supports fundamental and applied research and research training through national competition across all disciplines, with the exception of clinical medicine and dentistry.  There is a range of funding programs for researchers.

Canadian Studies Program - This program has been abolished
The Canadian High Commission administers the Government of Canada's program of support for Canadian Studies in higher education in Australia and New Zealand. The program is designed to increase knowledge and understanding of Canada, and to strengthen links between Australia and New Zealand and Canada. The program offers support and funding for Canadian Studies activities in universities in Australia and New Zealand.

Harry Frank Guggenheim
The foundation welcomes proposals from any of the natural and social sciences and the humanities that promise to increase understanding of the causes, manifestations, and control of violence and aggression. Highest priority is given to research that can increase understanding and amelioration of urgent problems of violence and aggression in the modern world.
Note: USA but non-Americans may apply and may conduct research in other countries than the USA.

Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia
A Call for Applications for 2012 grants will open in the third quarter of 2011.

Fulbright
Fulbright offers competitive, merit-based grants for Students, Scholars, Teachers, and Professionals. Grants are available for U.S.citizens to go abroad and for foreign (non-U.S.) citizens to come to the U.S.

Endeavour Fellowships Europe (DEWR)
The Endeavour Awards is the Australian Government’s internationally competitive, merit-based scholarship program providing opportunities for citizens of the Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas to undertake study, research and professional development in Australia. Awards are also available for Australians to undertake study, research and professional development abroad.

Marie Curie
Marie Curie Actions are open to researchers of all ages and levels of experience, and in many cases regardless of nationality. To help you decide which Marie Curie Action is most appropriate for your particular profile and needs, you are advised to consult the Marie Curie Quick-Guide

Australian Researchers Mobility Portal
The mobility of researchers to and from Australia is important for the vitality of Australia as a knowledge-driven economy within the global community. A mobile workforce is particularly important in promoting knowledge flows and ensuring a diverse and highly skilled workforce that has the capacity to respond to emerging opportunities and challenges.


FEAST - Forum for European Australian Science & Technology Co-operation (multidisciplinary)
Funding Opportunities : RSS
Involvement in the FEAST community will give you:
  • better knowledge and understanding of European-Australian cooperation;
  • assistance in the identification of projects, programmes, and partners across Europe and Australia;
  • quick access to relevant information (often existing but dispersed through a number of different sources);
  • rapid diffusion of information about funding opportunities and other news;
  • virtual workshops, preparation of events and more.
 
European Commission - CORDIS RSS
CORDIS, the Community Research and Development Information Service for Science, Research and Development, is the official source of information on the seventh framework programme (FP7) calls for proposals; it offers interactive web facilities that links together researchers, policymakers, managers and key players in the field of research.

COS
COS Funding Opportunities is the largest, most comprehensive database of available funding.


SPIN
Use SPIN as your one-stop-shop for identifying the latest grant programs. By aggregating sponsor information in one system, SPIN dramatically cuts search times and substantially increases the likelihood of positive results. Program information is presented in a standard format that allows investigators to readily compare opportunities.
